Miami Heretics are heading into the Call of Duty League Championship 2025 with one goal in mind   to become the first all European team to win Call of Duty’s most coveted title. After a rollercoaster season filled with roster changes, revenge matches, and breakthrough moments, the Spanish squad enters Championship Weekend with momentum and ambition. As one of only eight teams to qualify, they now face the challenge of turning potential into legacy.

The 2025 CDL season has been anything but predictable, and Miami Heretics have played a significant role in shaking up expectations. As the rebranded version of the Florida Mutineers, this squad has stood out not just because of their regional roots but because of their distinctly European roster. MettalZ, ReeaL, RenKoR, and SupeR form a unit that has steadily grown stronger throughout the Black Ops 6 season. MettalZ brings veteran leadership as the longest tenured member of the team, while ReeaL and RenKoR have evolved from Challengers standouts into consistent performers in the big leagues. SupeR, the most recent addition, joined just before Major 3 and made an instant impact, helping reshape the team’s direction.

Miami’s story began with a promising run at Major 1 in Madrid, where a passionate home crowd witnessed them take down OpTic Texas in a stunning upset. While the LA Thieves proved to be their recurring roadblock, the third place finish was a bold opening statement. The dip at Major 2 prompted the roster change that brought in SupeR, and from there, the trajectory shifted. At Major 3, Miami took fourth place, notching crucial wins over Toronto Ultra and Atlanta FaZe, signaling that they could keep pace with North America’s elite.

Then came Major 4, a defining point in their season. Miami stormed through online qualifiers with the first seed and finally broke their curse against the LA Thieves with a dramatic 3 to 2 win. Though Atlanta FaZe ended their winner’s bracket run and LA Thieves had the final say once more, another third place finish became their best performance of the season. The growth was evident not just in results but in the team’s ability to stay competitive across multiple Majors and consistently bounce back from setbacks.

Now, as Championship Weekend approaches, the conversation shifts from what Miami has achieved to what they can still accomplish. They open their campaign against Vancouver Surge, a team known for its inconsistency but capable of pulling surprises. A victory in the first round could reignite their rivalry with the LA Thieves, who enter Champs on a hot streak after winning the last two Majors. If Miami can overcome their old nemesis once again, a deep playoff run becomes a real possibility.

The Championship will not just test their skills but their mental toughness. Miami Heretics may not have the experience of a team like Atlanta or the firepower of OpTic on paper, but they carry something else   hunger. They have spent the season proving they belong, and now they must prove they can win it all. A strong showing at Champs would not only validate their entire journey but also put European Call of Duty back on the global map.

With Black Ops 7 already on the horizon, this weekend could also be a defining moment in the franchise’s future. A top three finish or better would give them the reputation and foundation to become a perennial threat in upcoming seasons. Whether or not they lift the trophy, one thing is certain   Miami Heretics are no longer underdogs. They are contenders.
