Battlefield 6 has stormed onto the scene with a vengeance, obliterating past franchise records and proving that the series is back in full force. The open beta, which is still ongoing, has already become the most-played beta in Battlefield history   a monumental turnaround for a series that was left reeling after the disappointment of Battlefield 2042.

EA’s decision to go all-in on playtesting has clearly paid off. The journey began back in March with the closed beta program, Battlefield Labs, where community feedback directly shaped the game. Now, the open beta has thrown the gates wide open, and players have responded in record-breaking numbers. On Steam alone, Battlefield 6 hit a jaw-dropping peak of 473,632 concurrent players, cementing it as the fourth most-played game on the platform at the time. While EA hasn’t shared exact global figures, it’s safe to say this isn’t just a record   it’s a landslide victory.

The hype is palpable, but not everything has been flawless. Early on, some players voiced concerns about the use of bots in multiplayer matches. EA later clarified that bots are limited to a single playlist and can be completely avoided by players who want only human competition. It’s a small speed bump in an otherwise roaring engine of momentum.

For longtime fans, this success is more than just numbers. It’s a signal that Battlefield has finally shaken off the shadow of its last release and is once again delivering the large-scale chaos, tactical variety, and adrenaline-pumping action that made it a household name in the FPS world. The beta still has more to give, with its next round running from August 14 to August 17, leaving plenty of time for even more players to jump in and push the record higher.

With the full release set for October 10, the question isn’t whether Battlefield 6 will succeed   it’s how high it will soar. If the open beta is anything to go by, this could be the most dominant Battlefield launch ever, and fans are already marking their calendars for the main event.
