Marvel Rivals players woke up to a surprise this week as NetEase Games rolled out a fresh patch on August 14, targeting several frustrating issues that have been impacting gameplay across all platforms. While smaller in scope than the massive 3.5 update released just days ago, this patch delivers important quality-of-life improvements and a few key fixes that fans will appreciate.

The update comes on the heels of the August 8 cohttps://www.marvel.church/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Hela.webpntent drop that introduced Blade as a new playable character, a wave of balance changes, and controversial restrictions in ranked matchmaking. In that earlier patch, players at Platinum rank and above were barred from forming five-person squads, and those in Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All ranks could only queue competitively in pairs  a move that stirred debate in the community.

This new patch narrows its focus to bug fixes, particularly for Hulk and Hela. Hulk’s Incredible Leap will no longer knock down enemies protected by Magneto’s Metal Bulwark or his own Gamma Shield, putting an end to those unintended shield-breaking smashes. Hela’s Hel Tendrils Team-Up Ability has had a visual glitch cleaned up, restoring the dark magic’s intended look. Her Queen in Black Ultimate Ability also received a wardrobe fix, ensuring her cape now displays in true Asgardian elegance.

Beyond hero-specific tweaks, the patch also resolves terrain issues that caused players to get stuck in odd spots, smooths out camera behavior after portal defeats, and eliminates a blurry spray issue on Xbox Series S. Players can also look forward to fresh in-game store additions arriving August 15, including the Cloak & Dagger – Polarity Bond Bundle and Winter Soldier – Polarity Soldier Bundle.

NetEase is doubling down on efforts to improve the overall experience. The recent 3.5 patch also brought new disconnect penalties and increased in-game chat moderation, signaling a firm stance against toxicity in the community.

On top of these fixes, there is a limited-time promotion running until September 6 where players can earn a free Star-Lord skin by watching any Marvel Rivals stream on Twitch for a total of four hours. Additional rewards like the Ignite Guangzhou Spray and Ignite Star-Lord Nameplate can be earned by watching for shorter durations.

This patch may not have the flash of a new hero reveal, but by addressing long-standing issues and adding fresh cosmetic options, it strengthens Marvel Rivals for both casual and competitive players. With ongoing events and rewards, it is clear NetEase intends to keep momentum high heading into the game’s next big updates.
