A major controversy has rocked the MPL Singapore esports scene just days before the Season 9 Playoffs. Everlasting Luv, one of the six community teams that qualified for the final stage, has been suspended following serious allegations of match fixing.
The team had earned its Playoffs slot through the Challenger Qualifiers, a format designed to help new talent rise to the top level of competition. However, an internal investigation launched by MPL Singapore has led to the disqualification of Everlasting Luv and multi season bans for key players.
The issue began with a match between Everlasting Luv and Sovereign SG during the third week of the regular season. Officials from MPL Singapore noted irregularities and launched a probe into what was described as suspicious gameplay. Players Akashi, Kyushu, and WILLYYY were interviewed by league representatives, but their statements did not align with gameplay data, voice communications, and account activity.
The committee concluded that the players violated Rule 15.1.2, which requires all teams to perform to the best of their ability. In addition, the trio was found guilty of misleading league officials during the course of the investigation. As a result, each player has received a suspension of two competitive seasons, barring them from MPL Singapore until at least June 2026.
In a public statement, the MPL Singapore Committee reaffirmed its dedication to preserving competitive fairness, stating that breaches of integrity will be dealt with strictly. The organization emphasized its responsibility as Singapore’s only professional esports league to uphold professionalism and transparency in all events.
With Everlasting Luv removed from the competition, Kingdom Esports has automatically advanced to the next round and will face Flash SG for a spot in the upper bracket finals. The remaining teams continue to battle for the championship, a prize pool of 40,000 SGD, and a coveted place at the Mid Season Cup, part of the upcoming Esports World Cup.
