A Leak Before the Big Event
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is preparing to host its highly anticipated RGG Summit on September 23 where fans expect major announcements about upcoming projects. However, excitement has already spiked after eagle eyed users noticed Yakuza Kiwami 3 listed on the studio’s official website. Although the mention was quickly taken down, screenshots and search results confirmed what looks like the next chapter in the remake series. The leak has since spread across social media platforms and fan communities, fueling speculation that the official reveal is imminent.
What Yakuza Kiwami 3 Could Mean
If the leak holds true, Yakuza Kiwami 3 would follow the path set by Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2, which remade the first two titles in the series with enhanced visuals, gameplay improvements, and added story content. The original Yakuza 3 released in 2009 on the PlayStation 3, and while a remastered version came out in 2018, a full remake would allow a new generation of players to experience the game with modern polish.
The Summit and Beyond
Neither Sega nor Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has officially confirmed the project yet, but the timing of the leak suggests that Yakuza Kiwami 3 will be revealed during the RGG Summit. The event will be livestreamed globally on September 23, just one day before Tokyo Game Show 2025 begins. Fans can also expect an RGG Direct presentation immediately after the main showcase, providing a deeper look into newly announced titles.
RGG’s Expanding Slate of Projects
The studio is busier than ever. Beyond the next Yakuza remake, Ryu Ga Gotoku is also developing Stranger Than Heaven, an original action adventure game, and a new Virtua Fighter project that was first revealed at The Game Awards 2024. Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are also set to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 this November, expanding the reach of the franchise to more platforms.
The Bigger Picture for Yakuza Fans
Ryu Ga Gotoku’s most recent release, Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, launched earlier this year as a spin off, while the mainline series continued with Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth in 2024. With so many projects underway, the upcoming summit could mark a turning point for the franchise as it balances remakes, new stories, and experimental spin offs.
The RGG Summit will be streamed live on Sega’s YouTube and Twitch channels on September 23 at 8 PM PDT, which is September 24 at 8.30 AM IST. Fans across the world will be tuning in to see if Yakuza Kiwami 3 becomes official and to get updates on the other exciting projects the studio has in the pipeline.
