South Korean esports giant T1 has once again proven its dominance, defeating long-time rival KT Rolster 3–2 to claim the 2025 League of Legends World Championship. The victory marks a historic three-peat for T1 and cements its place as the most decorated team in League history.

An Epic Telecom War Finale

The final was more than a title match — it was the culmination of a thirteen-year rivalry known as the Telecom War. Both teams represent South Korea’s telecom giants SK Telecom and KT Corporation, and their battles have defined the LCK scene for over a decade. Of their seventy clashes, T1 has now won fifty-three, a staggering record that illustrates its supremacy.

KT entered Worlds 2025 as a dark horse but shocked analysts with a flawless Group Stage and dominant wins over CTBC Flying Oyster and Gen.G. T1, on the other hand, scraped through their group with a 3–2 record before finding form in the Knockout Stage, defeating Anyone’s Legend and Top Esports to reach the Grand Final.

A Match for the Ages

The best-of-five final in Chengdu was a rollercoaster of momentum. KT opened strong but T1 answered back with two strategic masterclasses led by Faker’s veteran shot-calling and Oner’s impeccable jungling. KT fought back to take game three thanks to Cuzz’s dominant Mundo and bdd’s brilliant plays on Melee. T1 refused to back down, forcing a decisive game five where their Galio-Camille combo outclassed KT’s aggression.

When the dust settled, T1 lifted its sixth World Championship trophy. ADC Gumayushi was named Finals MVP and received his award from Hall of Legends inductee Uzi. Overwhelmed with emotion, Gumayushi stated, “I have finally proven myself to myself. I can say for sure that I am the best AD Carry in the world.”

A Legacy That Defines Esports

With this victory, T1 becomes the first team to win three consecutive World titles in League of Legends history. The win further cements Faker’s legend as the game’s greatest player and continues South Korea’s reign as the heart of competitive LoL.
